Where to look for work?
Hey everyone just a quick question to ask....
As a dancer I am in the stage of my practice where I am transitioning from full time training into finding work within the Arts industry.
So, what is the best way for you to find out of any performing arts jobs and opportunities?
Do you search particular websites? Maybe use web 2.0 by searching social media? Word of mouth? Have an agent? Or any other ways in which you find useful or not very useful.
I would really appreciate your opinions and knowledge from experience so please leave a comment if you want to and we can discuss it!
Thanks, Sian
Hi Sian,
ReplyDeleteMy performaing days a well behind me, when I needed to find audition opportunities I literally went to the local paper shop and got a copy of The Stage. Other jobs I got through people I know and in the dance teaching world I am lucky I have a wide netwrok of teachers so have aquired all my employment through word of mouth.
George Siemans Book Knowing Knowledge has some great insight into how our networks and communities now change our pathways in life. I have a blog of this on my page and also a guide to creating a reading list to maximise connection with our BAPP community.

Hi Charlie, Thank you for your reply! Yeah a lot of teachers I know did that as well and that's how they gained job opportunities. I will definitely have a look at the book and will check out your blog post on it. Thank you!
